Thread: Writer's block

Been planning an epic OLS fic but I've hit a snag. Remember the empty space on the pyramid floor in Grave of The Dragon. I've thought of what could have been there and the only thing I can think of is possibly a sarcophagus that was meant as a prison for someone or something that escaped long before the archaeological team or the Kei arrived. Problem is, I can't think of a probable reason why the ancient race would imprison it rather than destroy it except that they couldn't which wouldn't make much sense considering the capabilities of the Leyline.

It's more likely that whatever it is would have been too powerful to destroy.

Possible but I was thinking more that it's existence is tied to that of the universe so it couldn't. IE, the Leyline is a computer correct? Which is connected to the collective knowledge, will, and consciousness of the universe. But like any machine the Leyline is capable of malfunction and it got infected by a virus. A virus that was a the embodiment of the darker aspects of consciousness which used the Leyline to manifest a physical form.

I'm not sure it's quite like that. (That the Leyline is just a computer.) I felt that the Leyline is something immensely bigger. The impression that I got is that possibly the Toward Stars universe in its entirety is a simulated reality constructed by the beyond-ancient Leyline race. Obviously, that's completely speculative, as will any other theory in the thread be.
