Anyone know a fair amount about smartphones?

I don't know much. I am more into computers than phones but mine got shattered on the back. The screen is fine but it still will have to be replaced. The only things that I care about on a smartphone is a good battery and a great camera. I like to take pictures of nature, my cats, etc. so I want a great camera and a battery that won't die on me halfway through the day.

The phone I have now is a Galaxy s8. I was thinking of just upgrading to an s9 or s10, but the s9 is more in my budget. Are there any other phones worth looking at that take amazing pictures and have great battery life?

    Whats your budget?

    I have both a Samsung S10 essential and a Samsung S10 5G.

The camera is excellent and the storage is sufficient.

If you want to be very risky, you can get a OnePlus phone. All digital tech out of China will have a backdoor for spying. I used the OnePlus One in 2014 and it worked great, until I dropped it.

As for battery, the Samsung S10 5G works very well.

The battery for Samsung S10e has noticeably decreased by has a charge throughout the day (6am - 5pm).

I have had the Samsung S10e since 2019 May.

I have had the Samsung S10 since March 2020.

I'm still using my Xiaomi Mi 8 after a year and a half. Such a fantastic phone and it's still working just as well. I expect it to last me a few more years. When it's such a good experience there's really no need to upgrade in my opinion. Quick rundown:

It's really affordable these days. Of course, Xiaomi have their latest phone (the standard model here):

I've recommended Xiaomi phones a few times here. They're always completely on par with the Samsung counterparts and a few hundred dollars cheaper. It's pretty easy to find a Mi 10 for less than $650 and Mi 8 for less than $350.

I am looking to buy it factory unlocked and new online and the s10 is a bit out of my budget. I don't want to go over $350. I was looking at the s9 since it is better than the phone I have now and not too far behind the s10. But I was also considering the pixel 3 as it seems to have a really solid camera. I watched a few videos comparing it to the s10 even and it out preformed it but I don't know enough about Google phones to know if they are any good.

My husband has been trying to sell me on a Xiaomi for a few years now. He is going to be getting a new one this week and while the phones are fantastic for what you pay and last a long time without them slowing down, the cameras aren't as good as the flagship lineup. I know it is silly but I need a camera to perform in low-light and these don't do a great job, at least not to me.

I am currently looking at the s9 and pixel 3. Not sure though. I am very indecisive lol

Holy cow, a girl online in an anime community! That's like finding a unicorn Anyone know a fair amount about smartphones? very rare.

So your budget is $350.. would you consider buying a second hand?

    Try ebay?

My Samsung S10 5G cost $592 on ebay.

When do you need/want to have the new phone? If you want it asap, it will cost, BUT if you can wait til October/November 2020, new phones will be launched.

    Your specs:

    Awesome camera
    Long battery

    I used GSMarena

I use a Galaxy S9 and I think the camera is pretty good although i'm not much of a photographer.

I bought my [hot chinese] wife the Samsung S9 and it works well, but it only has a single rear camera. Still a solid camera.

I have the Samsung S10 5G and S10e and it has two or three cameras on the rear side of the phone.

As I understand, the multiple cameras allow for wider photos

Not as rare as one may think. lol

And I ended up buying the s9 on eBay, brand new in box for $330. I wanted to get the s10 but it was over $100 more and I just didn't want to spend that much. The next time I buy a phone, I will just go one year back so that way I get the discount without losing out on much battery life wear and outdated OS.

I bought my wofe the S9 back in 2018 November. She likes it

The only reason I recommend the others was for multiple cameras.

    But you'll do fine.
