    Favourite Browser Extensions

Post just one of your favourite extensions (called add-ons in Firefox I think) per post, and hopefully we can create a rather useful (if not crazy) list.

I'm a Chrome user. I don't know if there is an alternative for Firefox, but my first recommendation is F*ck Overlays.

You know all those sites like Quora, Pinterest, Facebook and the like that place a giant overlay over the site's content because you haven't signed up to their stupid service? Worry not! Just right-click the overlay and click "Fuck it"! It's extremely satisfying. It's not just overlays either. Want to remove an annoying face, a bothersome logo or an advertisement that won't bugger off? Just give it a zap. Works beautifully.

Any extensions you use that you'd like to share?

My go to on any new browser or workstation is AdBlock. Good bye weight loss pills, and super ninja horizon III ads.

After all the bad things I heard about AdBlock I decided to get uBlock Origin. Saying that though, I'm not sure it's actually a better extension, but it's done the job.

Another of my favourites is Currency Converter. If you ever wanted to find out what 1337 pounds is in your currency, well now you can in real-time!

Honestly though, it's been so useful over the past few years. As many of you know, I buy a lot of OLS merchandise online. Since I use sites like Yahoo Japan a lot, it helps to be able to convert yen to GBP very quickly instead of opening a website or typing it into Google. Same goes for USD and euros. Highly recommended. I just wish it had cryptocurrencies, but there are other extensions for that.

Funny thing is I'm using AdBlock on my chrome browser and uBlock Origin on my FireFox brower. Need to fix that.

I'm not using it at the moment but one I used for a while in the past especially on this forum after accidentally navigating off my long typed posts was Lazarus:

Very good idea. I found an alternative for Chrome called Typio. OSN's forum software actually has a built in function to recover posts, but it isn't perfect so an extension like this is better.

This extension has proven essential to working on the manga translation, but it's good for any translation purpose: Translation Comparison.

I use machine translation to help with the majority of the lines in my translation. For any I'm unsure about I ask a foreign friend. While not foolproof this works well the vast majority of the time. Some results...

This is from a part in the manga when Gene and Hilda are in bed. (Also, Gene has just discovered Hilda's cyborg arm and expressed disappointment that it would limit their... activities. While the bed scene happens in the anime you barely see it, whereas in the manga it's much more explicit.)

Usually my translations are quite literal, but sometimes I change it slightly. At first I was on the fence about this, but when you do this stuff you start to notice quite quickly that different translators tend to change the context, sometimes a lot. As more of a fan service I often try to give the characters an anime-like manner of speaking, but the manga is generally darker.

Kinda went off on a tangent there with my use of the extension, but if you're a Chrome user I highly recommend it. (Not sure if it's on Firefox.) This might be surprising to many, but after all these translations I believe Google's translations are inferior to Microsoft Bing's. (In some cases Google is the best, but usually not.)
