    Phone Buying Habits

Today I ordered a new phone which will come tomorrow. It's only a budget phone, but for a budget phone it looks pretty damn good. It's a brand I've never heard of but the video review I found was nice. When I thought about it, I realised I hadn't actually bought a phone in nearly five years which I was quite surprised by. Although I must admit, that's sort of cheating since I was provided an iPhone 5S for a software job since I wouldn't have been able to do it without it.

I would never actually buy an Apple product. I think they're overpriced and limited. I've had to go the extra mile to do some simple things I could easily do with Android so I look forward to this new phone. Specs-wise the iPhone 5S was a great phone when I got it and I wanted to keep using it for longer than I have, but its Wi-Fi just died for some reason 1-2 months ago. Repair is a hassle and I didn't want to take it to the pretentious Genius Bar so it's time for something new.

How often do you replace your phone? Do you go with contracts for your new phones, or do you get a phone separately and use pay-as-you-go or a non-binding subscription like I do?

Personally I don't get the rush to buy the latest phones. I'm happy to wait a year or longer, unlike those who wait in queues...

Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I understand why people buy Apple, but I probably never will. There's nowhere near enough unique features to make it worth the extra money, and it sure as hell isn't worth standing in line for. Though I do love that many of the same people that do buy a new iPhone every year are usually the same ones protesting capitalism. IDK, I just love the irony of it all.
For me, I only buy a new phone if mine isn't working too well. I only use my phone for internet browsing and Discord, and my 3 or so year old phone still uses Discord just fine, so I'm ok with mine. I don't feel a need to buy a $400 or more phone, especially with how little I use my phone to begin with.

I've got an iPad mini but I usually use an Android phone, I'm using a local brand called Cloudfone. It's very affordable this is my old one it it's 3 years old bought it for $75, it has a 5" screen and 1gb ram and 8gb internal memory, 1.3ghz quad core. I bought a new phone last December also a Cloudfone for $200 called Cloudfone infinity and the specs are really high. I guess, I buy smartphones every 2 to 3 years. And I also have a cheap basic bar phone which costs $15, I buy one yearly, it breaks easily, I bought one last month lasted 2 weeks and it's dead, well it's my fault I got wet, and the battery swelled up, that's what I get from buying cheap basic phones.
