    One situation, one item

Materialism can stay at home for this game; it's time to think like MacGyver.

Given a situation/location, you have one item (realistic in proportion to the situation given) of your choice to help you see the end of the day. If you feel so inclined, share your ingenious MacGyver-like intention for the item and how it will or might get you out of the bind. They don't necessarily have to be useful or picked with the intention of saving your bacon. Humor can be a nice response to situations, especially if they seem ridiculously hopeless.

Given situations can include providing a small set of tools, or useless items; however, the responder is entitled to their one item of choosing regardless. (Ie: Situation-giver provides 5 tools on hand. Responder is entitled to a sixth tool of their choosing)

So each post will, of course, include a response to the situation provided by the previous poster, as well as a situation for the next poster. I'll start with an example.

    =================
    Situation: Aliens invade your city

Item of choice: High-powered laser pointer pen.

You know how dangerous those things are these days? I've heard they can cause problems for airline pilots if someone on the ground decides to "joke around." On top of that, they have the potential to blind someone. They don't give away the user's location like a blinding light would, so I could blind aliens while hiding a fair distance away. They're also small and light, so they're quite stealthy. If there's some reflective surface to take advantage of, I can further take advantage of the laser pen's properties. In a pinch, it also makes a fabulous aiming device for weapons. Given that the aliens likely have superior weaponry, making head shots--ambush or no--is critical. Also, they'd make great signaling devices for team operations at night.

    ==================

    Now, for the next poster

    Situation:
Zombies arise from your local graveyards, and the government has walled-in the area (city) to contain the situation...with no thought to the people stuck inside, of course.
    Outlaw Star RPG

    RE: One situation, one item

    Very nice idea Seth.

    [hr]

Item of choice: Something powerful and semi-automatic like an M4 Carbine. I'd wait for the right moment and take the shark out.

    Situation:
You're working in a bank and robbers have invaded. When cornered by police who are covering all exits though, the robbers panic and start taking workers hostage. They execute one of the workers and you worry that you might not make it through this. Fortunately you've managed to stay hidden from them for the time being, but it's only a matter of time before they find you, and an escape attempt will not be possible without means of defending yourself.

With only office equipment nearby, what will your item of choice be?
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

Item of Choice: Computer Mouse. this weapon has two functions. you can swing it at somebody and knock them out, or you could sneak up on them and choke them with the wire.

Situation: you're in the recording studio, and other musicians want to pick a quarrel. what musical instrument do you use to fend them off?

    RE: One situation, one item

(Good thinking. XD I'm sure my gaming mouse could knock 'em out, at any rate.)

Item of choice: Keyboard. A really hefty one. I could take many of them down with a single swing. (With much effort, mind.) If necessary I could use it as a riot shield!

    Situation:
You're at an anime convention and a group of people say Outlaw Star sucks. You look them in the eyes and take a deep breath. Item of choice?

Gun (You may defend yourself, but you cant see what your doing, and you will give yourself away)
Cardboard box, Solid Snake style (You may remain hidden, but you will not be able to defend yourself, and you cant see what you are doing)

    RE: One situation, one item

Item of choice: I would choose the gun. I could still sneak about Solid Snake-style (or Sam Fisher?) but if I encountered a monster, I would have the best means of defeating it. The muzzle flare would also give me a split-second to see the other monsters as well.

    Situation:
Zombies again. You're in a grocery store (a supermarket, so a large one) and zombies start piling in from all entrances/exits. What do you use to fend them off?
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"

    RE: One situation, one item

Item of Choice: The Predator (Pack-A-Punched Commando in COD: Black Ops)

Situation: (Reference to Hot Springs Planet Tenrei) The Eds (Ed, Edd, n Eddy) somehow got into the Hot Spring which Melfina & Suzuka are in and you're on their team. What would you say/do? (If you want to have the Eds make a response, feel free to add them in.)

    RE: One situation, one item

I didn't know there were teams on Tenrei. I'd say hi to the Eds and ask Double D to get us a few cocktails, then we'd all just kick back and enjoy the hot springs. Seems fair enough. Problem is, there's no item of choice for this. Unless you can count Double D as I'd essentially be using him for drinks. So, moving on...

    Situation:
You find yourself working in McDonald's and a woman freaks because her burger doesn't have the right amount of salad. (Ha.) At first she just yells at the top of her lungs, but eventually enters the kitchen and grabs a knife. Item of choice?
