Communal Role-play (My, that sounds risqué don't it?)

As a fellow outlaw here on the Nexus who has been guilty of not doing enough in the way of new threads, I'd like propose something a little different.
To help foster life on the site, as well as provide a little outlet for our creativity, I say we start a modest role-play adventure open to all members where we can live vicarious lives as outlaws ourselves.

Join me on a little adventure in our beloved world of Outlaw Star.
    And who knows?
We may just put together a lovable crew and discover our own treasure, our own Leyline.

    Let us begin.

    SENTINEL III:

Isabel stumbles out into the dimly lit streets of the modest city just outside of West Virginia Space Port and proceeds to vomit, bracing herself in an alley.
That's the problem with self-medicating, it's difficult to get the dosage just right. Tonight is no different.
Still, no vomit on her boots, cloak, or the antique pistol dangling from her hip. She counts that as a victory.
Isabel wipes the corners of her mouth careful to fight the urge to run the same hand through her cropped teal hair (but with that color, would anyone notice? - meh, she'd would).

"Alright, *URP* less wrap this up now girl, comm'on now..." She knew she'd been putting it off long enough.
The time for despairing - and hurling - has passed. She's an outlaw now, unemployment and ennui are just part of the package.
She straightens up, legs wobbly but sturdy enough to press on, and takes in the city's evening skyline.
And that's when Isabel notices... she has absolutely no idea where she is right now.
    "Dammit..."

(I'm not really one for role-play, but I really like this idea so I'm going to give this thread a bump in case anyone wants to join in but hasn't seen it yet. )

(it doesn't need to be Shakespeare, nor anything lengthy.
So jump on in and give it a whirl! I promise at least mild thrills, lol.)

Isabel shuffles along the road when a soft neon glow captures her eye.
    CLYDE'S BAR. Looks inviting enough.
"Eh, why not?" Hair of the dog, right? Isabel saunters inside.

(I wasn't worried about being Shakespeare. I just needed a character! But I decided...Why not shove my anti-hero/whatever-the-heck-she-is for my NaNo novel into this to get used to her? If we need an extra, I can include her 'brother' that is her adopted son.)

That neon glow normally wouldn't catch the eyes of the nearly fifty-year-old woman. Not so keen on being reminded of her age, the fact that she could drink was a bit depressing at times...But today, it was a day a drink would do her some good. Her joints were a bit achy, and she was lonely. Besides- she'd recently run into a little trouble. This place would be a good place to hide from it, right?

Entering the bar, the dim lighting and relaxed atmosphere caused a gentle sigh. She ordered a drink from the bartender- the man she assumed was Clyde- before plopping herself on one of the tall bar stools (that for a tall woman, weren't that tall to her- average, at best.) She looked around, wondering what others were drinking- and if perhaps this place was full of young people, or if she really was just getting old. "To forgetting troubles." She mused, raising her beer glass to no one in particular- then she took a nice big gulp, allowing the burning of the drink to flow down her throat. "Man it's been awhile since I felt that."

(You know what, I'm gonna give it a go! I have very little experience when it comes to things like this, so apologies if I make a mistake.)

The young bar assistant didn't quite look like he belonged there, with his tie hanging loosely from his untucked shirt-- but none the less, if one wants to get by in this world, one must work! At least, that's what his mother always told him. The truth, however, is that he always dreamt of something more. He longed to explore the uncharted wilderness of space, just like his father before him, who's only memento is a single photo kept in the young man's wallet. Where is he, now? The 19-year-old Joachim (nicknamed 'Joe') could only imagine. For now, scraping by on the odd tip would have to do.

He glanced at today's customers, while polishing a glass, wondering what their stories were; where they've been, the things they have done and seen. Clyde's Bar seemed to be something of a hotspot for all manner of quirky adventurers, young and old, each with their own story to tell.

Joachim notices the young woman wandering into the bar, with some kind of ancient looking weapon on her hip. He began to sweat, despite his desire for adventure he was not the bravest of lads, especially when it came to the opposite sex. "W-welcome to Clyde's Bar." He stuttered, trying his best to avoid eye contact. "What can I get you?"

Isabel cocked her head in the direction of the young man's stuttering welcome. "Welcome 'urself barkeep! HA! I'm funny."
She offered a cocky grin before shuffling up to the bar and hopping up on the stool... before immediately sliding off and CRASHing to floor.
Her ancient hand cannon tumbled out of its holster, bumping up against the foot of the elder woman seated to her left.
Grace and poise were never Isabel's strong suits, but even for her that was embarrassing. Best to act like nothing happened.

At first the barkeep only saw Isabel's hand shoot up, clutching the bar's edge, then she shoots up three fingers, leaving the rest of her person unseen below.
"Ok... THREE THINGS! ONE! You didn't see that. TWO! Whiskey, neat and tall. THREE! You STILL didn't see that. AND FOUR!-"
Isabel finally pulls herself back up to a visible level, her cocky grin unfazed by her damaged pride and disheveled bangs. "Where am I?"

Isabel's rather abrupt energy lacked much egotism- something Cory liked in an adult (and hated admitting she had any of herself). Smiling to the barkeep, whose young face made her feel at ease, she mused a simple, "I'll have what she's having."

Looking at Isabel, Cory soon cocked her head to her shoulder, confused. "It's a bar. That's where you are."

Joachim scratched the back of his head, his mouth hanging wide open, and looked over to Clyde as if to say "help me." With nothing more than a cold glare in return, he straighened his tie in an attempt to compose himself. "Y-yes Ma'am!" he replied, though he had clearly seen the whole thing. He looked over to the older woman, suddenly remembering that he had a job to do, and gave the ladies a quick bow. "Yes Ma'am!" he said again. His mother had always taught him to be polite.

Joe hurriedly grabbed two glasses, and proceeded to pour the ladies a whisky each. "Jeez, I hope no one saw that..." Joe thought to himself, his customers' sizable pistol still fresh in his mind. For you see, the last time such an affair happened... well, let's just say Clyde's Bar is not always a den for the most savory of folk. Lost in thought, he didn't notice that the glass was overflowing, and was awakened by Clyde snapping his fingers, as if this hadn't been the first time. "V-very sorry!" he yelped, rushing back over to the counter. "H-here are your drinks, ladies!" he said, placing the glasses down, awkwardly trying to mask his fear with a smile, shaking all the while.

"Ahem..." he tried to compose himself again. He nodded his head in reply to the older lady. "This is Clyde's Bar, w-we have the best drinks on all of Sentinel III!" He looked over to Clyde as if looking for approval, but could only see an old man losing his patience, his palm over his face, as Iris giggled to herself. He gulped, and went back to facing the ladies again, hoping nothing else could possibly go wrong. "We serve everyone from space pirates, outlaws, adventurers, t-to g-good h-honest folk like y-yourselves..." he prayed they were honest, but he couldn't be sure at this point.

(I'm going to try introducing another character, hope that's okay with you two!)

"Gahahaha!" A menacing laugh echoed from the corner of the room. Joe worriedly glanced over, but could only see a faint red light shimmering in a dense fog of cigar smoke. The mysterious man turned his head upwards, revealing a sinister looking face under the brim of a black tricorne, a red light glowing from his false eye. "Quite an entrance, that." he snarked. "I expect the whole of bloody Sentinel knows who ya are by now!" he grinned to himself, chomping on a cigar. The aged captain reached into his holster. "Quite a fancy looking blaster, that be. Only... swear I coulda' seen it before." he seemed to recognise it, pulling out an equally if not more ancient looking weapon, holding it up for all to see. His tone suddenly became more serious, as he glared at her sternly. "Where'd ya get it?"

You see, after tales of the red-haired outlaw spread all over the solar system, such weapons had become highly sought after. Not just by collectors, mind you-- but the remnants of an old Tao clan who sought revenge for their fallen master. The captain could not be certain if this woman was an adventurer like himself, or another hunter who had come to take his life.
