What Anime Genre do you like most?

My first and most fave Anime Genre when I was a kid was Mecha from the very old Voltes V and Mazinger Z generation. The 2 Mecha series I like most is Daimos and Macross.

But when I got older my preference changed to Martial Arts and I like Baki the most because of its detailed explanations of various moves and techniques also Baki hardly talks, he talks with his actions and communicates by fighting.

That's a toughie. I believe I know my top four anime series. Obviously, #1 is Outlaw Star and it's often regarded a seinen, at least without the Cartoon Network censorship, etc. However, my second favourite is Welcome to the NHK and that's slice-of-life, as well as a black comedy. Third place goes to Monster which is a much more serious and dramatic seinen. But I think fourth place might go to Bakuman, a slice-of-life and a comedy like Welcome to the NHK. They also all have completely different storylines though.

A trailer/clip from each one, ordered by favourite anime:

They're all different, so I don't think I have an answer. There has to be some level of drama I guess. I can't say space anime is my favourite because I don't watch half as much of it as a Gundam fan for example. I give up.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I like comedy. I love how batshit and goofy humor in anime can get. It has a certain silly playfulness that you don't get very often with western humor. The other one is action shows in all flavors may it be fantasy, sci-fi or whatever. One type of action show that I wished we got more of is modern day shoot-em ups. Stuff like Gunsmith Cats and City Hunter and it's something that we don't get anymore. Sure, everyonce in awhile you'll get something like Black Lagoon or Jorgumand but they are few and far in between. It's kind of an offshoot of my love for action cinema so they kind of go hand in hand. There is a new Gunsmith Cats and City Hunter series in the work so hopefully it'll encourage Japan to make more modern crime, shoot-out heavy action shows.

I like action animes, for instance, Hunter X Hunter. I watched the original version and 2011 one. They say the difference is that the latter one stuck to the manga more. I also prefer 2011 because it has better graphics (available in HD) and a better script. You should check it out.

For me, it must have a dark/darker theme to it, so like Outlaw Star, or Digimon Tamers... anything with that kind of theme or style.

I'm now into Historical, Adventure types of Anime. I just recently finished Seasons 1 (38 EPs ) and 2 (39 EPs ) of Kingdom (kingudamu). It's one hell of an anime. It's about how a young slave named Xin who rose to become China's greatest general and his friendship with the young king who became China's greatest king who unified the warring States. This anime quickly became one of my top ten animes. I'm looking forward for season three which is already available in manga form.
