    Too Dang Long

There's the infamous Dragon Ball (Original, kai, Z, GT, DDS, PHD, BYOB)
    There's One Piece,
    Naruto,
    Bleach...

All shows that have been given what Outlaw Star should have received, continuations.

At what point does the length an anime cease being fulfilling,
    and become a suffocating time-sink?
    100th episode?
    200th episode?
    3,789,659th episode?

    What do y'all say?

There's a couple of other crack anime I'd recommend to you then.
    Hetalia - Historical crack
    Paniponi Dash - School crack
Full Metal Panic? Fumuffo! - Action crack

    RE: Too Dang Long

I think the longest anime series I've watched was Monster, which was 74 episodes long. I'm glad it wasn't longer. It's not that I didn't like it. In fact, it's my second favourite anime series behind Outlaw Star. I think its closure was appropriate and well-timed. It could have been shortened, but too much shorter and it would have detracted from the quality of the show. As much as I hate to say it, I think Outlaw Star was well-suited to being a 26-episode series. More episodes would have been great as I love Outlaw Star, but without some plot changes, most would have probably been filler episodes.

Filler episodes... ah, often the case with long anime series. But is it such a bad thing? I think there's a fine line. A certain amount if they're well produced is fine. An abundance? Probably not a good thing.

I would say if a series is split into... er, series, it's a little better, as a different storyline will typically apply to each one. One storyline stretched across hundreds of episodes... no thanks.

    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I think 60-80 episodes is satisfactory. It really depends on the plot and how depthy it needs to be. I don't want things to be rushed into so you get all confused.

XD I was afraid the same thing would happen to Soul Eater, that one ended up being 51 episodes though. Just when I thought it was getting too episodic they concluded it so it didn't join the evil army of anime filler series.
This is my signature, isn't it great?

The longest anime I've stuck with was naruto but I lost my balance and fell of the train around episode 79 of shippuden. I've seen everything prior to that. A lot of people don't like naruto, but I actually enjoyed it. Of course it has its fillers and annoyances here and there. But the action when it did happen... was something that made it worth watching.

My only gripe was Naruto's Tourette's.
