What genre of anime do you tend to be drawn to?
I don't know the actual genres of anime outside of what we use in the west so I will say that I tend to go for more sci-fi/space-oriented anime. Either it involved space travel or involved "aliens". Most of what I watch has one or both elements to the story.
What about you? Is there a specific genre you like or find yourself watching more than others when it comes to anime?

Comedy is a big one. I've always liked how goofy and absurd Japanese humor can get so anything with a lot of humor catches my eye. I'm big on action too, provided it doesn't have tournament arcs that last for friggin ever. I'm open to any genre in anime but those are the ones I turn to the most.

When I was younger, I only ever watched Shonen because I was a teenage boy lol.
But over the years I've branched out a lot. I've watched Slice of Life, romance, sports anime, and watched Given, which I was completely unaware was a Boys love anime, but I ended up loving it. It's one of the best anime I've ever watched.
The only genres I haven't watcheddand likely won't ever watch are Idol anime. But I feel a 31 year old straight man is likely not the target audience for Idol anime lmao.

There's so much great anime out there that I agree, I prefer to try out different genres these days rather than always sticking to the same thing.

Mostly slice-of-life and drama, with a dash of comedy. My second favourite anime, Welcome to the NHK, has all three. There's also Bakuman and Monster which are SOL and drama respectively. (Monster is also a thriller I guess.) Believe it or not, I wouldn't normally look for sci-fi anime. Outlaw Star just happened to truly captivate me in a way that no other sci-fi has.
I'd like to watch more anime like my above mentions but often find myself not enjoying those I try so much. I watched Genshiken as a recommendation after enjoying Bakuman and found it great. On the other hand Watamote was suggested after Welcome to the NHK became a favourite but I did not like it at all. Dropped it after several episodes. I can't find an anime quite like Monster.
I suppose I'm picky.
When I watch SOL there has a niche to it. I guess Clannad was good but I try to mostly avoid majority-school SOL because I feel like I've seen it all before.

I tend to be drawn towards action shounen/seinen, the kind that you see on Toonami/Adult Swim. I have a soft spot for slice of life anime too.
