    Gundam (Model Kits)

(They aren't toys! Gundams are cool, dammit! )

Most of you probably already know what Gundam is all about. If you don't, it's basically... giant robots, politics, and angsty teens. Cool, eh?

    I'm not usually into model kit building, but these are snap-together, so there's no mucking about with glue or anything. The only turn-off for me personally, is the stickers. Tiny little details like the eyes, you have to stick on yourself... and if you screw up, you're f@#ked. Unless you don't mind having a blind Gundam... >_>;

After re-watching Wing, I thought it'd be cool to start off with my childhood favorite, Deathscythe Hell. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out... just try and ignore the sloppy panel-lining. Also, I really like how these pictures came out. Check out the glowing eyes.

How's that for a shield? Looks like a coffin, and doubles as a weapon. Definately the highlight of the kit for me.

So, what do you think? Any other Gundam builders here besides myself?

    RE: Gundam (Model Kits)

I'm not a gundam builder but definitely a fan of the series. And Duo Maxwell and his Deathscythe happen to be my favorite from gundam wing. Seriously man I'm in awe of that model. Looks pretty bada**. About to re-watch gundam wing and endless waltz myself. Then watch Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team since I've yet to see it. I can tell you asher is one. If you check out his journal you'll find one of his builds.

My only gripe is flatten out the stickers on the shield more if you can

    Looks good my man.
Gundam Wing will always hold a special place in the heart.

However, Duo is awesome, this is true.
But Trowa is where it's at, I say to you.

    RE: Gundam (Model Kits)

@Kokiri: Thanks man. Kinda ashamed to say that I've only seen Wing and Endless Waltz. I'm thinking of watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam, just to see where it all began. And yeah, that's the sucky thing about stickers, after a while they just won't wanna stay on. Experienced builders tend to paint instead, but I'm afraid that I'd trash it...

@Asher: Liking the Shadow Gundam. And agreed, Trowa's awesome. I'm pretty fond of the whole boyband, (maybe not Wufei) but I can't quite decide which is more badass: Deathscythe, or Heavyarms. I'm guessing you've already heard of the new MG Heavyarms? My inner-geek really wants to go ahead and collect all 5 in Master Grade form, but I really don't have that kind of money to spend. Oh well, maybe some day.

Those models are awesome. I'm not even a fan of Gundam at all, but I'd like to know where I could get these. You say you don't have to paint them? I used to paint Warhammer models, so even If I did, it wouldn't be TOO much of a problem. Who knows? Maybe I'll even start watching it. The thing that keeps me away at the moment is the amount of series. It all seems very confusing, and I have no idea where to start.

    RE: Gundam (Model Kits)

Right, painting is optional. I'm way too lazy myself, but if you decide to put in the extra effort (paint, decals) then you can really create something special. Like this, for instance. As for purchasing them, this is my personal favorite shop.

It's true, there are a LOT of series. But most of them are completely unrelated, (aside from the title) and at the end of the day, they're basically the same thing: giant robots fighting for peace. Trust me, it's alot cooler than it sounds.

If you do, I recommend starting with Wing. Check out this Toonami promo, voiced by Optimus Prime no less. Says alot more about the series than I ever could:
