Thread: Gurren Lagann DVD Problems

So i bought Bandai's Anime Legends Gurren Lagann complete collection. I play the first dvd, and it starts to skip at about episode 4. so went to return it, and after a hilarious experience at best buy, i got another. Same problems . got hold of bandai, they're gonna replace my dvds. but now, i gotta go through the entire collection of dvds to see if there are any problems. since the same problems happened on both collections, i assume it has something to do with the dvd printings, and not individual problems.

Now for the reason i made this: it would be really great if anyone who got the dvd set i did and had the same problems to tell me what dvds the problems were on, so i can narrow down to what dvds probably have the problems. i know a lot of the people on here are english, and i'm american, so maybe you guys got a different printing, but if you could tell me anyway, i would really appreciate it.

btw, sorry for the really long post.

What are you playing the discs on? Have you tried playing them on different things such as another dvd player, xbox, or computer and arrived with the same problem? I don't personally own the discs myself so I can't help you anymore beyond that which isn't much because I'm sure they probably recommended or asked the same thing. Sorry

I did google the issue and found some reviews on amazon and anime news network from 2-3 years ago and it turns out your not the only one that has had this problem so hopefully they've fixed it by now and can help you with it.

that's what i forgot! i tried both sets on my ps3, my laptop, my living room dvd player, and my little bros 360. it does the same thing on everyone of them.

Well crap, that really sucks... Well I wish you the best of luck for resolving this issue with bandai then. Seems like they may be your best bet.

My Laptop does that to my Disc set but its not the legends mines the real deal set but i think my Video Card is going out because it gets to a point and then stops you can hear the back ground but it stops and freezes and it slightly moves back and forth when i move the mouse back and forth i can reboot it and it work find for a bit then later on it will do it again. Just dont have the money to fix it right now tho.[hr]
This aswell does this to my High School of the Dead set to. Colors flicker back and forth and makes a really loud ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR noise i half to take it out to get it to stop but it works on my Xbox and PS3 ect. [hr]
might be my driver ment to say that to.

Now that you mention it, when I started watching Outlaw Star again on my Anime Legends (US) boxset a couple of nights back, I think it was around episode four when it skipped a couple of times. It seems very odd that this would occur though, particularly in your case with the replacement doing it too. How serious is the skipping?

it actually skipped from about 15 seconds after the opening to the second part of the episode.

I'd consider getting a refund and buying a different release of Gurren Lagann if there is one.

last time i tried getting a refund best buy accused me of copying the dvds, so no, can't do that. bandai isn't doing new stuff here in america anymore, so that's out.

here's what i'm doing right now: i have the dvds playing in my ps3, and i have the timecard on screen. i have the timecard and a clock on my computer in sync, and i marked down the time the dvd began. then, i check it every once and a while, and if it;s different than what it should be, it skipped.
