What are some of the best Historical, Action Anime you've seen?

Can someone recommend a Historical, Action, Adventure Anime. I've just finished S1 and S2 of Kingdom (Kingudamu) and it was great. I'm looking for others, it's okay to have some fantasy in it like Berserk.

I'm sure you have probably seen it, but one good historical anime is Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin). The plot begins during the 11th year of the Meiji period in Japan (1878) and follows a former assassin from the Bakumatsu, known as Hitokiri Battousai. A wandering swordsman who protects the people of Japan with a vow never to take another life.

I am a big fan of Roruken both anime and live action movies. I wish that the 4th installment to its live action film would be released this year or early next year. It seems the actress playing Kaoru got pregnant and gave birth that's why filming was halted. Also there's the issue about Roruken's creator Nobuhiro Watsuki who was arrested due to child phornography charges.

There are plans of rebooting Rorouni Kenshin with an alternate ending. This is because of the sad epilogue to this saga. With Kenshin contracting an incurable leprosy like disease dying at the arms of his wife Kaoru who also has the disease. It was really a bad ending to an otherwise great saga.
