Thread: Little Known Anime Series

There's this dark anime series titled Shigurui: Death Frenzy which has only 12 episodes. It's a Samurai Era story of two rival samurai's who have sacrificed they're bodies and minds to be the best. They're Lord or Daimyo is a mad, sadistic and sexually perverted samurai who phases in and out of insanity. He later was killed by one of his star students.

His two best students, one he blinded and the other was left with one arm are duelling it out to be his successor and the other one to end the house of his ex master.

This series is very dark and psychologically engaging. There's a lot of sexual perversions and portrays the traditional Samurai House's dark nature. It's an adult/serious anime which was nicely done.

I would rate Shigurui: Death Frenzy with a 9/10 because of its detailed portrayal of the dark side of a Samurai Lord.

I have never heard of this one but I think I might give it a watch. I do sometimes prefer shorter series as they feel like drawn out movies. Like if you watch it all in one sitting it just feels like a very long movie.

Shigurui is a bit dark and has a certain fan base. Have you tried Mob Psycho 100 it has only 12 episodes but it's quite good. It's funny and some characters has similarities with the One Punch Man characters. It's all about the supernatural, ghosts and psychics. The protagonist is like the Saitama of the spirit realm.

I've heard some good things about those, may need to give them a watch.

I just recently finished "Blade of the Immortal" another short Anime which only has 13 episodes. It was quite enjoyable and the music was also good.

The series is about a Ronin who can't die, well actually he could if he's hacked into pieces but stabbing or slashing him won't do any good. He was gifted immortality by an 800 year old Buddhist Nun by infecting him with worms that regenerate his flesh. Along with a girl that he sworn to protect they travel together to get revenge and kill the person who destroyed her family and dojo.

This series is somewhat reminiscent to Samurai Champloo. Even the fighting scenes have similarities, its a good anime, I just wonder why it didn't get another season.

Overall I would rate Blade of the Immortal 8/10.
