    Short Series or Long Series?

In terms of anime, do you generally prefer a longer series or a shorter one?

I find it hard to choose. Given that 3 of my top 5 were short series and one of them is still on going from the 80's, I guess I am somewhere in the middle. I suppose it depends. If there are long breaks in the series, that can make it be better I suppose but sometimes you only need one season to get an amazing story across.

I like long anime series more because it gives the characters ample time to grow and develop. Most series that I like are long ones. And there are also continuing series which releases another season after a very long time. An example is One Punch Man which will release it's second season after 3 years. And there are long series like Naruto which changes titles, it continues today as Boruto after Shippuden. Other long animes include Bleach, Gintama, Lupin and One Piece.

Standard length? I think that's changed over the past decade or so, but I generally saw a standard length being 24-26 episodes. If I had to choose between thirteen episodes and something much higher, I'd say on average I prefer shorter series. This is because most of them are that: average. I only want to invest larger amounts of time in critically acclaimed (and a genre I'm interested in) series which nowadays are few and far between.

I don't mind any particular length as long as the show's story is going somewhere. I do gravitate towards shows that are 20 or so episodes long since they say what they need to say and don't outstay their welcome. The biggest problems with shows with a crap ton of episodes, may it be Dragonball Z, Naruto, Bleach, ect. is that it goes on for what seems to be an eternity focusing on tournament arcs and filler that doesn't have any character moments and just superfluous bullshit. It just becomes tiring and I just end up losing interest. I wish more anime writers understand that brevity is the soul of wit, or more to the point...

Regarding anime, I prefer shorter ones like 30-40 episodes. I'm a casual viewer, and I only get to watch if I have spare time (which usually doesn't happen a lot). In a shorter series, there is little room for fillers (episodes that's not relevant to the whole story), and it's much easier to binge watch.
