Hello! My name is Streak and I am a huge fan of anime. Sadly, I do not really know anything about Outlaw Star though. I am not really super picky when it comes to types of anime. I do not really like series that are hugely mecha based. I am talking series that are almost nothing but giant robots flying around and fighting.

I really like a nice combination of romance, comedy and action. I love a series that can make you laugh and shed a few tears. I think that is how you know that a series is really good.

I think my very first anime series (that I knew to be anime) was InuYasha. My first anime series that I watched unaware of it being anime was definitely Pokemon.

Welcome aboard, I watched InuYasha on [as] to the end myself. Give Outlaw Star a watch and I bet you'll like it.

Hello there, Streak. Funnily enough, Outlaw Star contains the three things you said you love: romance, comedy and action. I'll admit, I too don't really check out or usually like anime that is all action. Fortunately, Outlaw Star has the majority of things that made the '90s a great decade for anime.

I've known a lot of people who had InuYasha as their first anime, but I've yet to check it out, admittedly. And Pokémon too, of course. I was the same in that regard. I didn't even know anything about anime really until perhaps a little more than five years ago.

True mantis, I've noticed that the older shows have more substance to them. And gun play, love the gun play. Well, Welcome to the forum Streak. I'm not a huge anime fan myself but I do enjoy a few. The ones I do enjoy follow the outline you described. Anyway, welcome aboard I hope you enjoy it here.

Hey, how's it goin? If I were you...I'd definitely watch Outlaw Star. Like Mantis said, it has pretty much everything you're looking for in an anime. While there are flying space battles, there's a nice balance between that and ground-based combat. Outlaw Star is very laugh-worthy, and there are moments that have "tear-shedding capacity"; putting all that together, I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed.

Nice, InuYasha is a solid anime. My first known anime was Sailor Moon; I thought the dub was pretty quirky back then and it still is now to a greater degree, but I recommend watching the sub. It's still a bit juvenile, but it's uncut and everything that was scrapped in the dub remains in the sub, making for a surprisingly deep story. I don't care what anyone thinks...Sailor Moon's a good show.

As for Pokemon...I was more of a Digimon boy growing up .

I was just curious on seeing other new members' posts that I couldn't help but to laugh at your Pokemon statement. Only because the same thing happened to me, too! I would always go after school and watch that one show without even knowing that it was anime-related. Even Sailor Moon that would be on right before it. I think it was on Cartoon Network in their Toonami showing if I can remember correctly. Anywho, my name is Bloom. It's a pleasure meeting you! Hopefully we can chat more really soon!

I am pretty giddy by how welcoming everyone is here. It is so refreshing. Not really surprising though. I have always found anime loves to be a great deal more friendly than other people. Not sure why, but I have always noticed it to be true. We are just all such amazing people, yes?

Hey Bloom. Nice to see another newbie floating around. It seems like a lot of people watched Pokemon as their first unknown anime series. I know all first old episodes would make me ball my eyes out. I really love an anime that can make you cry though.

I mean, if we weren't selling you on Outlaw Star on an Outlaw Star forum, what would be our motivation? Hah hah.

It's quite true, in general, that anime-based forums seem to be more friendly than other forums, such as FPS forums for example. No offense to anyone who plays a lot of FPS games, but I've found that people who play FPS online for hours and hours and take it too seriously tend to be very disturbed people.
