    Just found this place!!

Hi! I just found this place, and it seems pretty cool. Never expected to see an Outlaw Star forum that's still active at all.

I saw the anime...a while ago. My first experience was seeing the last episode subbed...at Comic Con. They had a room for showing random anime. No idea why they chose the last episode. But later, I saw the Toonami dub! I always had a snack while I watched it, it was on just before I had to go to Karate class. I later watched it again on Midnight Run, which was...slightly less censored? I was looking forward to rewatching it on the new Toonami a couple years back but didn't get around to it for some reason. Did see the "unaired" episode finally, which was nice. (and partial inspiration for my username / avatar)

Discovered this place on accident by a peculiar chain of searches, which I'll share in the thread dedicated to that I guess.

Anyway, glad I found this place!

    Hi, welcome to OSN!

I'm happy to say that I caught the username reference immediately, it's definitely appreciated in this corner of the internet.

My experience with OLS was quite similar, watching on Toonami and then later on Adult Swim/Midnight Run. I suspect that a lot of us here had a similar introduction to OLS and the role it played in our childhoods is why we are here on this forum 18-ish years later. Surprisingly, some of the members are more recent fans including the site's creator and Admin (with me being the other Admin...feel free to reach out if you need anything). Clearly the series had a heavy impact on him as well so perhaps discovering OLS as a kid or adult doesn't affect how good it is?

Anyway, welcome to the forum and I look forward to seeing you around!

    Thanks for the welcome!

I'm actually proud of my username, took me a while to come up with it, but once I did it felt so perfect.

I love that Outlaw Star has fans both new and old!

Hey there Onsen Seven! I'm loving the username and avatar right off the bat!

Welcome to Outlaw Star Nexus! Like Zemekis mentioned, your discovery of the show isn't too different to my own. I've mentioned this a couple of times already but I first watched it in either 2005 or 2006. At my first college I had a friend who was pretty anime-obsessed. At the time I was quite ignorant about anime. At high school I was just interested in video games. I just knew that anime was Japanese animation and recall how badly a classmate was bullied because of the amount of "anigay" he watched. (Yup, that was the general maturity of most boys there.) Haha, I recall that he made a password "escaflowne". A classmate guessed it, got into one of his forum accounts and got him banned by shitposting... harsh.

That bullying was plain stupid but I didn't really care. As far as I was concerned he could like what he wanted and I wasn't going to get involved. It wasn't encouraging me to find out more about anime, at any rate. So, a couple of years later at college this friend dragged me to an anime club and there I saw the latter half of the first episode of Outlaw Star. I thought it was incredible, but alas I forgot about it since I didn't know its name and had other things on my mind. Eventually a friend of a friend mentioned Outlaw Star. I can't remember specifically how that happened but I knew I had to watch it. This was in 2008. I'd switched to a different college.

I was blown away by it and started watching some other anime afterwards. (I guess it made me wish I'd investigated this "anigay" years beforehand!) Actually, you reminded me that a month or two back I rediscovered my original means (I mean beyond that limited viewing at my first college) of watching Outlaw Star: a dusty old disc that I burned in 2008. It seems to be unreadable, but I'm still treating it as a memento of sorts. Kind of ironic that it's that and now I own every last legal version of Outlaw Star. To me, the first Outlaw Star bootleg I have is this.

It was only weeks after I finished Outlaw Star that I registered the Outlaw Star UK domain. The rest is history.

It's kind of dumb that they chose the final episode at the convention. I take it they'd never heard of spoilers. Glad ya found your way to watching it all eventually!

    Thanks for the welcome!

That's a real interesting story, it seems like "the stars aligned" to get you to watch Outlaw Star!

I was in an anime club in high school. Let me see...Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, The Slayers, Orphen, as well as a few I can't remember, and a few I wish I could. It opened a whole new world for me, pretty different from Toonami and "4kids" offerings...Now that I check the dates, I saw Outlaw Star on Toonami around the same time I joined the anime club...huh.

It's funny because I wasn't sure when watching it on Toonami if it was the same show until the end, because the final episode is...a little peculiar to say the least without going into detail, because...spoilers. Normally I'd hate having spoilers like that but it worked out fine I guess.

Welcome aboard. I must admit I don't think I've ever seen the un-aired episode nor knew of it so looks like I have a new outlaw star experience ahead of me!

    Thanks for the welcome!

By unaired I just mean the episode that didn't air on Toonami, because it was the...
    hot springs
    episode.
