    Hello fellow Outlaws

    Hello there!

I'm an Outlaw Star fan from Poland, reporting for duty. You can call me either by my full moniker or my real name (Oliver).
I saw Outlaw Star for the first time back in 2014 when I was starting my adventure with anime during college years. No other series (well, let's make Patlabor an exception) has made such a profound impact on me. I can't get over the fact that it does not get the attention it rightfully deserves.
During the past few years, I kept Outlaw Star excitement mostly to myself. I tried to introduce some friends to the show, but (already being hardwired by Cowboy Bebop) they dropped it after an episode or two. Eventually, I wrote a review of the series on my blog (geared towards people totally unfamiliar with it).
I was aware of Outlaw Star Nexus due Mantis YouTube videos, but I never quite brought myself to register here, until now. I'm glad that there such an old-school forum devoted to my favourite anime. Yoroshiku.

Welcome, Oliver! It's always nice to see other Ptlaw Dtar fans out there! And from Poland? That's pretty cool!
But you described why Outlaw Stat is so criminally underrated: Cowboy Bebop came out around the same time and just had a much bigger following. (And Steve Blum).
    Welcome to the Nexus!
Kick up your feet and enjoy a drink at the bar. Clyde's a great bartender.

Hi @pseudohippie! Thanks for warm welcome

So far, I have not met a fellow Outlaw Star fan in my country. I'm not sure how many OS fans are out there, outside of Japan, the U.S., and the U.K. Some statistics would be great, but I doubt we'll ever get to see them.

Yeah, I guess you are right But the year 1998 was so big for anime, in general (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Initial D). Perhaps, Outlaw Star just got lost in the heap. Or maybe modern viewers are no longer into the stories about hope and pursuit of one's dreams...

Thank you. I will definitely enjoy a drink. However, I hope that no bandit-android will come at me

Well, if you're a demon, you might have to worry about me coming after ya...

All kidding aside, glad to have you aboard. This is probably the most laid-back place that you'll find, or at least as far as internet discussion boards go. I hear ya on your assessment about modern viewers not being keen on hope. I could rant about the idea of how bleak nihilism is by default, better and more meaningful than something more hopeful but that my good man, is another topic for another day.

Anywho, make yourself comfortable and don't be afraid to post!

    Rest assured, I'm a demon-free wanderer

Thanks for kind words as well @Starwind55. I'm happy that I finally registered here. With regard to modern anime trends, it just seems that depressing moods (Fred Luo's whisper: Death Note, NGE) are more appealing to viewers than "get up and do sth with your life, dammit!" message from OS. I think we definitely to discuss these tendencies sometime later

I will definitely try to post!

Hello there Oliver! Nice to meet you. I've never talked to a Polish anime fan before, so that's cool. A keen interest in Outlaw Star to boot... that's a lot of bonus points.

I read your Outlaw Star review and liked it. I particularly enjoyed your take on comparisons with Cowboy Bebop. I wholeheartedly agree!

I talked about Outlaw Star's positive vibes in comparison with modern anime a few times before. It kinda feels like someone flipped a switch as we entered this century and people started wanting completely different things. Everything started becoming way edgier. I honestly never saw emos and goths before the millennium and then there they were...

    Hello fellow Outlaws-tumblr_nvzttifzdk1sgq8s0o1_500-gif

All jokes aside, I hope you enjoy Nexus and I look forward to talking more.

Howdy Oliver, welcome to OSN. I see that plenty of others have already welcomed you which I'm glad to see! I'll keep mine brief (because i'm at work right now): Mantis and I are the only site staff so if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask us or send a PM. I'd recommend that you dive in on some threads in Clyde's Bar and start making friends!

I skimmed through your blog review of OLS and I'm impressed, you really put a lot of work into this. I'll give it a more thorough read later. It's interesting to hear viewpoints from fans in different countries because of the potential differences in cultural perceptions of the show.

    Hello, Mantis!

Nice to meet you, too I guess there's nothing exotic in my polishness. Outlaw Star reaches people across the seas and galaxies

Thanks for reading the review. Yeah, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star deserve appreciation in their own ways.

My sentiments exactly about the shift in preferences at the turn of the twenty-first century. Suddenly, bleak and depressing vibes became the new black. Some people should get a grip on reality. We have only one life and there's nothing edgy and noble about glorifying death.

Thank you. I will try to make my stay at Nexus a worthwhile experience.

Thanks for welcome, Zemekis! It is a privilege to be greeted by the admin team. I will certainly reach out to you in case of any unforeseen emergency (though I'm hoping that Gilliam will protect me anyway )

Thanks for kind words about my review. I simply wrote it out of passion for the show. Hmm... I don't think that I have a culturally-driven perception of the show. To me, Outlaw Star is a classic Hero's Journey.

Like I said in the OS subreddit a few months ago, we, Outlaw Star fans, may be small in numbers, but we are blessed by the Galactic Leyline
