    Hey there!

    Howdy All,

A good friend and myself have recently returned to our pastime of watching anime series from start to finish. It took us 3 nights, but we finished Outlaw Star. I hadn't seen it in its entirety in almost 10 years, and it still blows me away. I feel like I've gained a better understanding with every viewing.

Imagine my surprise when I came across a still active Outlaw Star forum. What a pleasant surprise!

    Glad to be here!

    Hi! Welcome to OSN!

I'm Zemekis, one of the two staff members here so if you need anything feel free to send me a PM. Otherwise, have fun jumping into a few threads
Had you and your friend seen Outlaw Star before?

Our group here isn't too large but we are fairly active and everyone is friendly so I hope you enjoy your time here

    Hi Zemekis!

    Thanks for the welcome!

We became friends during our college years (2011ish). I believe we both watched it on Toonami on our own. I had watched again probably around 2009-2010, finally owning it on DVD. At the time, I had a girlfriend that was into cosplay. We went as Gene and Melfina to a local convention.

With it being about 10 years between viewings, I had forgotten more than I realized.

I've always been into space westerns Outlaw Star, Firefly, Cowboy Bebop. I also enjoy the two genres separately.

Now we are asking ourselves what we will watch next...

    Hello Tequila Rose!

We did talk via PM when you joined but I'll admit I forgot to reply to this thread. Thanks for checking out Outlaw Star Nexus and it's been nice to meet you!

I can understand the nostalgia there. It's great fun to return to an anime, video game (or whatever else) after so much time apart. It must have been so great to enjoy Toonami in the early 2000s.

As for something to watch next, perhaps another of those older series? I found rewatching Escaflowne after a long time pretty awesome. I don't have a long list of anime similar to Outlaw Star, though space anime in general can be enjoyable. Or if you're into older anime Captain Harlock is a decent one.

Or maybe you could watch Angel Links? (Just kidding. Most people here don't like Angel Links so much...)

Hey Manits! Good to hear from you!

For some reason my brain remembered that Hanmyo had something to do with Angel Links, weird considering she died in Outlaw Star.. I have no clue where I got that idea.

I think the only two characters that cross over were Douze and Valyria, and then they weren't anything like they were in Outlaw Star?

Our front runners are, in no specific order, Cowboy Bebop w/ movie, The Saga of Tanya the Evil, Gate, Last Exile, or KonoSuba.

Although I think we still need to go back and watch the OVA Roberta's Blood Trail for Black Lagoon.
