    Question XGP 15A-III

The Japanese Wikipedia entry for Outlaw Star contains the following in a list of ships, with the heading "XGP-A3" (machine-translated):

Successor to the XGP-15A2 that exist only as a preparatory draft does not appear in the anime. In addition to propulsion system Munchausen Reactor 4 aircraft becomes the plasma drive, with a huge folding 4-bladed as appearance features. The formal representation of the format number "XGP-A III".
It doesn't cite sources. I get the feeling that a lot of Japanese Wikipedia pages aren't as heavily moderated as English ones. When the writer mentions a "draft", one must think it's the Sword of Wind OVA, but in the original Japanese draft it's stated multiple times that the ship is called the Sword of Wind, so why does this state otherwise? To quote from my translation of the SoW draft...

As explained, Gene will get a new ship—his second grappler ship. The Sword of Wind’s long-range navigation capabilities are inferior to the Outlaw Star’s. However, it has a secret and very powerful third mode. Though it is not confirmed yet, Shōji Kawamori is expected to be the designer of the new ship.
There was no mention in the document of this being a successor to the XGP (in fact, the document as above said in some ways the Sword of Wind is inferior), nor any particular extra features. Rather, just a secret third mode. Is this third mode the "plasma drive"? But again, what does that have to do with the Sword of Wind, which is a completely different ship?

So what do you think, gang? Some random Japanese fan pulling something out of his ass and not citing sources, or something genuine about an Outlaw Star sequel that we haven't found the origin of yet? Could it even be from the manga? This calls for some fact hunting.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

Mantis, if there's something about OS that YOU don't know, that's my cue to hide under the blankets and wait till it's safe to come out.

In all seriousness, you always have to take whatever you read on Wikipedia with a grain of salt. I'm with Lobo on this one, if you didn't know about it already (and with no source to speak of) then I find it very hard to believe.

Last I checked, even English pages aren't heavily moderated. That said, there can be truth along with the lies, so I'd more be curious if it is false, how they came up with the bologna in the first place. The best lies are based on truth, I'm told...So what is the truth hiding behind it? Because to me at least, even if it's a lie, it's a pretty well conducted one. Which I hate.

That aside, I looked up XGP A-III a bit on google and there were other sites that had mention of it to some extent, but since they're not official sites either, it's hard to say whether it's truth and where or not the information originates from. It's kind of like a wild goose chase. As hari said- probably best to take it with a grain of salt...

And as Lobo said, I'll be hiding under a blanket if it's something you don't know about, Mantis.

"If there is the slimmest chance, no matter how small, you have to go for it. Never give up hope."
    -Gene Starwind

Those who merely give up hope or assume something is a wild goose chase are those who don't get the dragonite. Leave no stone unturned.
